His Royal Artillery casualty card gives his domicile as Ingham. Married Victoria CROSS [1916] (Bury St Edmunds Q1-1935 4a:1478), later of Bootle, Lancashire.. It seems they had two sons, Anthony G (Bury St Edmunds Q1-1937) and Christopher R (Bury St Edmunds Q1-1940). They were living in 1939 at "Windyridge" Culford Road,Ingham with his widowed mother in law Laura CROSS [1877]. Victoria re married, to ? WOODFINE according to the notes added to the 1939 register |

The 48th LAA Regiment, equiped with 'Bofors Guns', had three Batteries, 49, 95, 242. They sailed from Gourock (River Clyde) on the "Duchess of Athol".
There they changed ships to 'HMT Dunera' thinking of Singapore, but were diverted to Batavia, Java, and docked at Tanjong Priok. Not long after George's death
they were taken prisoners by the Japanese.
